HAZARDOUS BULB


Disposal of CFLi lamps.


Do not dispose of this product with household waste. In Europe all CFLi lamps must be disposed as special waste under EWC Code 20 01 21-Fluorescent Tubes and other mercury-containing waste.

What should I do if I break a CFLi lamp?


CFLi lamps contain mercury but are safe in normal working conditions. If broken harmful mercury vapour can be released.

If you break a CFLi, do not panic and take the following steps:

  • Ventilate the room for 20-30 minutes
  • Do not use a vacuum cleaner
  • Use gloves to remove all the bits
  • All the items used in cleaning up the spill should also be discarded and treated as "normal Household Waste" or disposed at your local recycling point.
  • Remove all broken lamp components from the luminaire.
  • Dispose of all lamp parts by taking to the local recycling point. Do not dispose in "Normal Household Waste"
  • Always switch off the mains power before removing the remaining lamp.
